Bishop Ray is an Old Catholic Priest and has been since his ordination on August 27th, 1997. At the time of his ordination until the end of 2005 he co-pastored an Old Catholic parish in Fayetteville with Father Joseph Paul Smith, who is now Bishop of the Old Catholic Diocese of California. The parish was named Our Lady of Guadalupe, and it was then under the jurisdiction of the Catholic Apostolic Church in North America (CACINA), M. Rev. David C. Smith was the ordinary at that time who was then succeeded by M. Rev. Michel Joseph Pugin, OSB. Bishop Ray is now the Old Catholic Bishop resident in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
On May 28th, 2014, Bishop Ray was made bishop-elect over the Diocese of the Uniformed Services, and on August 16th, 2014, he was ordained and consecrated Bishop of the Diocese of the Uniformed Services (DUS) and appointed as Missionary Bishop over the Missionary Diocese of the Midwest.
Bishop Ray holds a baccalaureate degree in philosophy from the University of New Mexico and a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. His theological studies have earned him the equivalent of a masters degree in divinity focused on Old Catholic Theology. He is also a resource for other jurisdictions with a vast knowledge of Canon Law. He is also a practicing civil trial lawyer and has been since 1994.
